Join us for a monthly in-depth walking tour of Coastal Roots Farm’s food forest where you’ll learn about food forestry, silvopasture, soil building, perennial planting, crops that do well in our coastal climate, and more. The tour will be led by Food Forest Coordinator LyOr Rabinowiz.

A food forest is a productive perennial-based ecosystem in which layers of trees, shrubs, roots, vines, and cover crops grow together. Food forestry is an ancient method of agriculture that dates back thousands of years. It’s holistically designed to harvest rainwater, build healthy soil, provide habitat for animals (both wild and domesticated), and of course, grow a diversity of fruits and vegetables.

Please wear close-toed shoes and dress appropriately for walking outside, on uneven, sloped terrain for at least an hour. All ages are welcome, although anyone age 17 or under must be accompanied by an adult guardian. See you in the food forest!
