We at Tree San Diego have a dream that in the decades to come San Diego will have large healthy forests where trees are lovingly cared for and at the end of their life the humans caring for them make sure they are given a second beautiful life, ideally in a form that can be enjoyed for generations to come.

With that dream in mind, we are inviting together environmentalists, woodworkers, arborists, artists, developers, architects, gardeners, landscapers, permaculturists, sawyers, slow foodies, neighborhood organizations, and anybody who LOVES trees. In the beautiful setting of the San Diego Botanic Garden, we can spend some time getting to know each other, share ideas on how we as a community can salvage more urban trees, and have a great time enjoying food and live music together.

  • See examples of various products made from local wood

  • Experience how to take a log and turn it into lumber via a milling demonstration by Lumbercycle

  • We'll participate in some Interactive group networking and brainstorming activities in an effort to get the community more involved in the urban lumber network locally

  • Listen to some ‘tree stories’ told by those that have been doing this a lot longer than us

  • Finally, enjoy live Music by Ashley Mazanec and we'll have food available to purchase from the San Diego Taco Company
