Free Summer Lunch Programs for Kids in San Diego County
In San Diego County, 1 in 6 children face hunger. That’s over 127,000 food insecure youth, many of whom lose access to vital school meals over the long summer months.
Feeding San Diego is working to fill the summer meal gap by offering free lunches and snacks to any child between the ages of 1 and 18, as well as through community barbecues where parents also eat for free. No income verification or forms are required to participate.

The Summer Fun Cafe
Hosted by Feeding San Diego in partnership with San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD), Summer Fun Café sites offer food and resources to children and families at outdoor events throughout the summer. Children 18 years and younger eat free; parents and guardians are free with their child, while other adults may purchase meals at community barbecues for $2.
In addition to distributing bags of fresh produce, FSD conducts CalFresh (SNAP) outreach and pre-screenings, nutrition education and demonstrations.
